Juan Pablo Montoya warns that Formula 1 can easily find itself in the other extreme amid the drivers' current criticism of the rules. During the forced April break after the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix, Formula 1, the teams and the
FIA will sit down together to review the current regulations.
The competition is happy with the new cars so far. During the final meeting, the team principals with will review the proposed rule changes with
F1 and the FIA.
During the first meeting, the discussion focused much longer on smaller adjustments to the battery, with the emphasis on a change in energy management to allow a full push in qualifying.
The adjustment to the ADUO system was also discussed, as two weekends disappeared from the calendar.

Montoya questions drivers' criticism
The former F1 driver and current F1 TV analyst argues that tweaks introduced to racing could create new flaws.
Speaking to a betting site, he explained: "Then you're going to get to the next race and nobody's going to pass anybody. And then people will complain that the racing is boring.
"You're going to fix the safety issue but you're going to end up people sitting like they used to sit in the DRS trains. And then what? There's no right answer, is there?"
During the first three rounds of the season, four-time world champion
Max Verstappen compared racing to Mario Kart, and warned that the current regulations
could have terrible consequences for Formula 1.
Lando Norris also did not mince his words about the regulations.

Montoya does not believe that this issue of racing becoming too artificial has started only in 2026. He continued: "It hasn’t been real for the 15 years that DRS has been there. So, are you telling me passing with the DRS was real passing?"
"When people say, ‘Ah the rules now are bulls***. it's Mario Kart, where before it was real.’ That’s crazy.
"What’s the difference between the wing open and more energy? What's the end result? It's more speed," the Colombian concluded.
