Gianpiero Lambiase's transfer to McLaren dominated the headlines this past day. Who were the winners and losers of this announcement? GPblog lists them for you!
The announcement took the Formula 1 world by storm. After Lambiase's contract expires in 2027, Red Bull's Head of Racing is set to join McLaren no later than 2028.

Winner: Zak Brown

The American CEO managed to deal another blow to his rivals by signing one of the best in the business, Gianpiero Lambiase. It is a move that confirms the Woking-based team’s ambition to remain consistently at the top of the Formula 1 order.
It is a deal that Brown can now put on display and refer to when asked about his team’s project.

It's clear that losing another pillar continues to hurt Red Bull Racing, who had a difficult start to the season.
In Miami, Laurent Mekies will have to answer multiple questions about the departure of Lambiase to the media.
However, the team has to answer questions to themselves and Max Verstappen. Why did another key person leave the team? Why did Lambiase choose to proceed working for another top project? Is there no way for Red Bull's most important employees to progress within the team?
The Austrians will have to find answers sooner rather than later to these questions to avoid further problems.

Loser: Ferrari and Frederic Vasseur

After a great start to the season and consistently battling for podiums, the mood was positive within the Scuderia. However, once again, Vasseur will be tasked with answering questions about his future, and the team will once again have to see stories about the hypothetical move of Stella to their team.
