Qualifying on the Monaco circuit is the ultimate test of strength when it comes to one lap speed. This is not only because every mistake is punished, but also because the starting position is very important on this circuit. On the other hand, you also have real Monaco specialists, who are only very fast on this circuit.

One of those specialists seems to be Nikita Mazepin. A crash by teammate Schumacher meant he couldn't beat the German in a straight fight, but he has been faster than Mick all weekend and so 'the son of' has been spared a potential embarrassment.

As for the other qualifying duels, there are three names that stand out in a positive way. Valtteri Bottas of course, who outpaced Lewis Hamilton this time, something Lando Norris also did to Daniel Ricciardo. Finally, Sebastian Vettel also scored a small victory by qualifying for Q3 while his teammate failed to do so.
