Hadjar summoned after Baku GP as FIA calls up two more drivers

The Frenchman acted as his team-mate's rear gunner for much of the race, even when he found himself with more pace for several laps and began to put pressure on the four-time world champion.

Hadjar then got his big opportunity at the second restart, passing Oscar Piastri after a major mistake from the McLaren driver at Turn 1 and securing a deserved podium on his return from a wrist injury.

He will now have to appear before the stewards to explain the alleged breach of Article 12.2.1.i of the International Sporting Code and non-compliance with the Race Director’s Competition Note, specifically regarding a practice start infringement at 14:20.

Carlos Sainz has been summoned to the stewards for the exact same infringement as Hadjar, while Gabriel Bortoleto has also been called up over an alleged breach of the regulations relating to overtaking under yellow flags and the safety car procedure at 16:12.

Sainz bounced back in style after the penalty he received yesterday forced him to start 14th, taking full advantage of the chaos that unfolded ahead. The Spaniard benefited from the incident involving Franco Colapinto, Pierre Gasly and Lando Norris, which eliminated both Norris and Gasly from contention after Colapinto triggered a chain-reaction crash.

With several cars dropping out or losing positions as a result of the incidents, Sainz was able to climb through the field and eventually finish 10th. The result secured a valuable point for Williams and completed an impressive recovery from 14th on the grid.

It was a relatively uneventful race for the Audi driver, meanwhile, as he finished 13th, while team-mate Nico Hulkenberg narrowly missed out on the points in 11th.
