'The FIA should be more strict and start handing out bans for this kind of stuff'

At the restart following the first Safety Car, the Alpine driver completely missed his braking point and went straight into the corner, losing control of his car and triggering a collision that also involved team-mate Gasly.

The Frenchman was unable to avoid the incident and was caught up in the aftermath, with Norris also becoming an innocent victim of the chain reaction. The incident brought the McLaren driver's race to an early end and resulted in a double retirement for Alpine.

Speaking to GPblog and other media outlets after the race, Norris did not hold back in his criticism of the incident, calling for the FIA to take a stricter approach and hand out race bans for incidents of this nature. The McLaren driver stressed that such mistakes can have major financial consequences for teams and drivers, with his car suffering significant damage as a result.

Norris also questioned the decision-making behind the incident, arguing that F1 drivers are expected to anticipate difficult conditions, particularly at a restart when grip and tyre temperatures can be lower. He made it clear that he expects to be racing against the best drivers in the world and believes incidents of this nature should not happen in Formula 1.
