Nico Hulkenberg wants to return to Formula 1. His brief return to Racing Point has put the German back in the spotlight for a while, but Hulkenberg does not want to return to the sport at all costs.

After years of driving around in Formula 1 it was the end for the Hulk in 2019. Renault wanted Esteban Ocon and let the contract of Hulkenberg expire. The German couldn't find a seat and took a short distance from F1. In 2021 he wants to return, but a mentioned option to become a reserve driver for the team is not what Hulkenberg is looking for.

Hulkenberg does not become a reserve driver

''Personally, I don't see myself in a role as a reserve driver'', says Hulkenberg according to Motorsport-total.com. Toto Wolff threw this up as an option, although it was not clear whether the Austrian sees this as a serious option or, as with Sebastian Vettel, does not want to close the door out of politeness.

''I have raced for ten years, so to take a place where there is little chance of racing then does not really make sense in my opinion. That's not how I want to end my career. Not much has happened in the past period, because I had to focus on racing itself. It will take a few more weeks'', concludes the German who is not expecting any further chances this season.
