Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has described the manufacturers year as “exceptional” as they sealed various championship titles across F1, F2, European F3 and the DTM.

The German car manufacturers F1 team claimed the Drivers Championship, in the form of Lewis Hamilton and his eleven race wins throughout the year, and the Constructors Championship with Valtteri Bottas alongside for the fifth consecutive year.

Mercedes F1 are second in history to achieve this feat since Ferrari from 2000 to 2004.

“We’ve had an exceptional year overall at Mercedes,” said Wolff. “All the series we have won is a highlight for me.” (thecheckeredflag.co.uk)

Mercedes also succeeded in Formula 2 and Formula 3 with Geogre Russell, set to drive for Williams next year, and Mick Schumacher, racing for PREMA in F2 in 2019, winning each respectively.

“I would say my first highlight [is] the combination of events after winning DTM on one weekend and then the drivers’ title in F1 and then the constructors’.

“It [felt] like a huge weight off our shoulders. The second highlight for me was Lewis’ Singapore qualifying lap as a standout event.”
