Ferrari lost over half a second with Singapore upgrades

Just like 2017, Singapore was supposed to be the race that catapulted Sebastian Vettel’s late season title charge, but just like 2017, he couldn’t take advantage of Ferrari’s pace advantage and Lewis Hamilton took the victory with an inspired display of talent at the Marina Bay circuit.

The Mercedes driver won the title last year and is overwhelmingly likely to do the same again this year, holding a 67 point advantage with just four races left.

And now, German publication Auto Motor und Sport have revealed that Ferrari’s new package for the Singapore Grand Prix actually made them SLOWER than they were before.

According to them, they were 0.2 seconds quicker than Mercedes before the weekend, but after the supposed upgrade was introduced, they have lost 0.7 seconds to their German rivals.

This mistake, compounded by many on-track errors have led to Hamilton running away with the title, which he can claim at next weekend’s American Grand Prix with a win if Vettel finishes third or below.
