Red Bull Racing's exceeding of its budget cap is the talk of the town in Texas. Also, there is the possible announcement of Logan Sargeant as Williams' second driver. And, of course, there is the Grand Prix itself, which will be held on Sunday. There is yet another topic happening in all silence.

Among all the Formula 1 teams, is also Michael Andretti on the Circuit of the Americas this weekend. The American still hopes to have the 11th Formula 1 team on the grid, but the other teams are not eager for his entrance. So, with Formula 1 currently in America, it is the perfect time for Andretti to lobby.

Lot of work done

Speed City Broadcasting ran into Andretti in the paddock. Asked if there was any news yet, Andretti said, "Not yet. We are making progress. We are still heading in the right direction. There are a lot of meetings around here. It's nice that everyone is in the same town. So we get a lot of work done. Our goal is still 2024 (to join Formula 1). We will see. Is it going to happen? I'm not sure. But we are not going to stop until we totally won't be able to do so."

A key issue is which engine an Andretti F1 car will get. Speaking to GPblog earlier this week, father Mario Andretti would not comment on the names Honda and Porsche. The latter manufacturer has not yet put an entry into Formula 1 out of their mind, despite stalled talks with Red Bull Racing. A partnership with Andretti is the obvious choice, as both are also partners in Formula E. In that case, Andretti F1 would get the engines from Audi, which are branded Porsche.
