Verstappen highlights painful detail after impressive win over 100 kart drivers

"Simply lovely," says Max after overtaking the final opponent on the circuit. Max Verstappen relishes the win: "It was a lot of fun! This is the best victory so far [in my career]."

Max chats with the commentators and fellow drivers after the race and talks about his brilliant start: "You really have to watch the video back, it was chaos in the first lap!"

Once out of the kart, Max Verstappen naturally grabs a Red Bull and says: "Sometimes I tried to hop a bit out of the kart, which helped me. My first lap was pretty amazing. A lot happened. Many karts got stuck; I didn’t. And that helped me!"

Max says he never doubted he would lose. "No, but you have to take into account that people might miss their braking point. That’s why I was cautious at the start, so I could react if needed. I got lucky in the first lap; it was a lot of fun. It was fun overtaking everyone. There were really a lot of karts. You had to pass people in different places, so it kept changing," Max explains.

Max Verstappen realizes how important this moment is: "My first win of the year!" he declares.

Max Verstappen started the kart race from 101st place. So he had to pass 100 drivers for the victory, who were also allowed to use a shortcut. Within one lap, however, Verstappen was already in the top forty, and in no time he had overhauled the entire field. In total, the race lasted only 35 minutes before Verstappen had overtaken everyone. The organizers had planned for 30 laps and a maximum time of 75 minutes.
