LIVE | Verstappen takes on 100 others in epic karting challenge

The four time F1 world champion is competing against a mix of streamers, fans, content creators and several elite athletes around Silverstone's karting track.

The task facing Verstappen is enormous. Starting dead last and he has to overtake everyone. The race lasts sixty minutes plus one lap and begins with all 101 karts starting from a standstill.

Once Verstappen has fully overtaken a driver, that driver must stay behind him and leave the track. Verstappen therefore needs to try to thin out the field as much as possible before time runs out.

Rather than a conventional kart race, Verstappen will have to work his way through a field of 100 people. The Red Bull driver expects an intensely competitive atmosphere and believes patience will be essential if he is to make his way forward.

Verstappen has not driven a go-kart for several years, but is eager to find out how quickly he can adapt. “I’m looking forward to it and this is, of course, something only Red Bull would do. I haven’t gone karting in quite a few years, so it will be fun to go back and see how I go, but there are a lot of people to overtake, so let’s see!”
