Verstappen’s participation in two iconic races beckons after F1 calendar announcement

The Formula 1 calendar for 2027 has been announced, making it clear what opportunities Verstappen has to participate in other races alongside his Formula 1 duties. One of the events Verstappen would once again like to do is the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. This year, his team retired while in a winning position. Next year could bring a rematch. The 2027 edition will be held from May 27 to 30.

One week before the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, the Canadian Grand Prix is on the calendar. It will take place from May 21 to 23. The next Formula 1 race after that is the Monaco Grand Prix, from June 4 to 6. That puts the 24 Hours of Nürburgring squarely in the free weekend between those Grands Prix.

The same applies to the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. That race is scheduled in 2027 from June 24 to 27. The Portuguese Grand Prix will be held a week earlier, from June 18 to 20. The next Formula 1 race after that isn’t until July 2 to 4, when the British Grand Prix takes place at Silverstone.

Max Verstappen previously expressed his desire to make his debut in the 24-hour race at his beloved Spa. If he does so next year, it will be in a Mercedes GT machine, the same type he drove on the Nordschleife this year. No doubt Verstappen will announce soon whether he will indeed be on the grid at Spa and the Nürburgring.

Verstappen might also be in action at Daytona at the start of 2027, another 24-hour race. It has long been known that there is no Formula 1 in January. The 24 Hours of Le Mans doesn’t clash either, but the Dutchman would still need to take part in the preparations for that event. That would overlap with Formula 1, making participation in France highly unlikely.
