Renault driver Nico Hulkenberg claims that he knows the Paul Ricard track "pretty well" ahead of next weekend's race in France.

After a very impressive seventh placed finish in Canada, Nico Hulkenberg has been talking about how excited he is to race on a track that he knows "pretty well".

"I know it pretty well," Hulkenberg told f1only.fr, about the French circuit.

"I do not go blind. A few years ago, I did a few laps as part of my preparatins for the 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours.

"Its features are quite similar to those of the last meeting in Montreal.

"Especially those straight lines requiring high top speed or heavy braking.

"On Friday, the tests will be important so that everyone enters the rhythm with a learning phase.

"It is however a challenge that I look forward to and I will do my best to unlock the secrets."

With this being the first race on the track for over a decade, preparations will undoubtedly be different for the drivers.

"Accumulating the laps at the simulator is a good starting point," the Renault driver explained.

"We spent a day at Enstone studying settings and compiling the data before being on site.

"Then you have to work hard with your engineers, learn, listen and do everything by covering a maximum of laps during free practice on Friday and Saturday."
