The Dutch Grand Prix certainly delivered in 2026 as Ai Ogura claimed his first ever MotoGP victory and Japan's first since 2004.
Marco Bezzecchi crashed out at high speed in the opening laps and threw away his championship lead in the process. Fortunately, he was okay after the scary incident at Turn 15, but it continued a streak of three straight races without a single point.
After a thrilling battle in the first part of the race, it was Jorge Martin who pulled away with the Trackhouse duo of Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura following. Eventually, the Trackhouse duo found a way through and Ai Ogura took the lead with five laps to go.
Marc Marquez fought valiantly to defend the final place on the podium, which he captured spectacularly during the chaos, but as the race went on he was eventually ground down by Bagnaia who passed him at the midway stage. Bagnaia then suffered a technical issue and was forced to retire, which Marquez fell further back into the clutches of Di Giannantonio.
Pedro Acosta had been involved in the battle with the Ducati's but yet again he also suffered a technical issue and had to withdraw from the race.

Fabio Di Giannantonio then pulled off a carbon copy of Marquez's move on Valentino Rossi ten years ago, forcing the Spaniard through the gravel at the Timmers chicane, however, due to slightly exceeding the track limits in doing so, he recieved a long lap penalty.
Marc Marquez was also handed a -1 place penalty for exceeding track limits on the final lap.
