MotoGP Czech GP FP1 Results: Marquez on top as Aprilia falter, Quartararo 2nd

The Czech Grand Prix weekend is finally underway at the prestigious Brno Circuit as marc Marquez looks to close the gap at the top to Aprilia riders Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin.
The session got off to a tricky start for all the riders with Pedro Acosta, Maverick Vinales and Diogo Moreira all crashing in the opening few minutes.
Marc Marquez soon posted the fastest the time of the session, going clear by over 0.6 seconds initially from Gresini's Fermin Aldeguer. Despite a late crash in the session, his 1:53.3 remained out of reach for the rest of the field.
Fabio Quartararo posted an incredible lap on the Yamaha, just 0.2 behind Marquez which is the most competitive time for the Japanese team all season.
Alex Marquez made his return to action after his brutal crash in Catalonia. While he was by no means running at his usual pace, it was still a decent showing from the number 73.

Both Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin had small moments, running off into the gravel but managing to stay upright to the relief of their engineers. However, Martin's bike cut out while he was practicing his long-lap penalty loop, forcing him to return to the pits to mount his spare bike.
