Marc Marquez fulfilled expectations during the first part of the German Grand Prix weekend, securing a relatively comfortable sprint victory at the Sachsenring.
Marc Marquez, who took pole position this morning in qualifying, also took the holeshot despite a shaky launch and his younger brother, Alex, managed to stay with him for the opening laps. Fabio Di Giannantonio pulled off an aggressive move on Ai Ogura during the opening lap, and after that the race began to settle down as the Marquez brothers rode defensively.
The tight and technical nature of the circuit meant few overtakes were possible from there on out, however Alex Marquez and Di Giannantonio managed to keep in touch throughout.
Championship contender Marco Bezzecchi suffered a broken collar bone during qualifying and therefore withdrew from both the sprint race and the rest of the weekend.
