In a slightly unexpected announcement this week, Gresini Ducati's Fermin Aldeguer has announced that he has officially signed with Cristiano Ronaldo's AVA recovery program, designed to help athletes with injury recovery.
Aldeguer, who made a remarkable recovery from a pre-season femur break and returned to action at just the second round of the MotoGP season, made the announcement via Instagram that he had partnered with the Portuguese superstar's brand.
The Ducati rider could make for an ideal ambassador as he has, despite his young age, already proven his incredible resilience and mental fortitude by returning to competition so early, and was even seen hobbling to his motorcycle on crutches at points throughout the Brazilian and USA Grand Prix weekends.
On top of that, Aldeguer had very impressive results in his two return races, finishing P8 in Brazil and P11 in the USA main race.

The partnership will likely mean that Aldeguer will recieve some sort of benefits from AVACR7, perhaps in the form of a personal sponsorship or simply as a brand ambassador.
Either way, the partnership certainly help's the young rider's image and is a great step for other MotoGP athletes to achieve wider recognition.

VR46 target Aldeguer as Ducati future becomes clearer

The deal with AVA is not the only reason Aldeguer has made headlines recently. He also finds himself at the center of a complex rider market controversy as it seems the VR46 team are looking to 'poach' him from Gresini. The move is representative of the current crisis Gresini face as their future in MotoGP becomes increasingly uncertain. Both riders look set to depart for different teams at the end of the season, with several moves also expected to be made between factory and satellite teams. Read the full story here.
