KTM's Pedro Acosta has named Australia's Phillip Island Circuit as his favourite on the entire MotoGP calendar. The iconic track, which is set to host its final MotoGP race this year, will be removed from the calendar next year in place of a proposed street circuit in Adelaide.
In a recent episode of the Gypsy Tales Podcast. Acosta spoke for over three hours on everything from his upbrining and his family history to his first competitive race and the current MotoGP season. It is quite rare to have such an in-depth look at the personal life and perspective of one of the sport's top athletes.
Since joining the premier class as a 19-year-old in 2024, Acosta has quickly established himself as one of the most skilled, talented and fearless riders on the entire grid, and many tip him to be a future multi-time World Champion.
During the podcast, Acosta was asked about different tracks and corners, which ones he likes best and which ones he finds the most difficult:
'Phillip Island, first of all, is the best track on the whole calendar. It's a shame we will never come back, you know? But, it's one of these legendary tracks that cannot go away.'

When asked how he felt about the proposal to remove the track from the calendar, Acosta had the following to say:
'Sad, to be honest. Like I say, it's the best track on the whole calendar. If you ask, [all] 22 guys on the grid will say this. Also the fans, the Aussies are incredible. Doesn't matter if it's sunny, windy, if it's raining. They will stay there because it's the magic of the island, let's say. This is not the nicest thing I heard this year.'
The highly unpopular decision to remove the track is just one of many changes set to hit the 2027 calendar. Additionally, it is rumoured that the calendar could potentially head to Miami on F1's street circuit at the Hard Rock Stadium.

‘No one wants this’: Adelaide designer tears into Liberty Media over MotoGP street race switch

Since acquiring a majority share in MotoGP last summer, Liberty Media has been quick to impose its authority on the paddock - though not all of its proposed changes have gone down well.
One of the first major decisions undertaken by the now joint Formula 1 and MotoGP owners was to remove the legendary Phillip Island circuit, one of MotoGP's most historic and high-speed tracks, and instead host the Australian Grand Prix at a proposed street venue instead.
