Lewis Hamilton and
Lando Norris. His teammate,
George Russell, crossed the finish line in fourth place, ahead of
Charles Leclerc and
Max Verstappen.
Thanks to this victory, the Mercedes youngster extended his lead in the drivers' standings to 43 points over Russell and 47 points over Hamilton. Verstappen is now 103 points behind.
Attention now turns to Qualifying, with teams and drivers once again able to modify their setups as they are no longer under Parc Fermé conditions. Unlike Sprint Qualifying on Friday, drivers will be able to use the soft tyres throughout Qualifying, from Q1 to Q3.
On Friday, Hamilton was the quickest in SQ3, claiming pole position for the Sprint. The seven-time world champion finished marginally ahead of Kimi Antonelli in the Mercedes. Verstappen and Leclerc finished third and fourth respectively, both more than three tenths behind Hamilton.
Verstappen reveals Red Bull's Sprint issue: 'Just couldn't keep up'
Verstappen experienced another difficult session. After qualifying third, the Dutchman once again lost multiple positions off the line and was unable to keep up with George Russell and Charles Leclerc after battling them during the early stages of the Sprint.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the session, the Red Bull Racing driver
was clear in his verdict. He explained:
"Just too slow."We were degging more than the cars around me and especially getting destroyed in the high-speed. Just couldn't keep with them. Then sliding more to try and keep up with them and then you deg your tyres more," the four-time world champion added.
