After nearly four weeks, F1 is back. The sport returns to action this weekend at the iconic Zandvoort Circuit for what is set to be the last Dutch GP for the foreseeable future.

On Pole Position for Sunday's race is McLaren's Lando Norris, ahead of fellow Briton George Russell on the front row, as well as his Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli after a dramatic Qualifying session.

The youngest ever to do so, Antonelli leads the Drivers' standings by 53 points ahead of Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton following the Sprint Race on Saturday. Antonelli finished P4, while Hamilton struggled in P7. Russell, however, made gains in the title fight with his victory - the gap between the Mercedes now stands at 56.

Mercedes also start the second half of the 2026 campaign in a strong position in the Constructors', now 76 points ahead of challengers Ferrari after the Sprint. However, third-placed McLaren could be in the process of another remarkable mid-season turnaround after Norris' dominant victory last time out in Hungary and his start from Pole today.

Ahead of the Dutch GP, Red Bull and Verstappen made the bombshell announcement that not only is Verstappen staying with the team, he has also extended his contract by two years.

However, after qualifying P7 at his home race in Zandvoort, Verstappen admitted that his newly signed contract - keeping him with the Milton Keynes team until 2030 - will probably be his last in F1.

"Yes, the chances are high," Verstappen said when asked on the matter. Even with V8 engines possibly on F1's radar for as early as 2030, Verstappen said: "I don’t know. That also depends a bit on how the coming years go."
