Following severe flooding near the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Liege, the track access roads have been so significantly damaged that the circuit will be closed until further notice, a spokesman confirmed today.
In a press release that was seen among others by the Dutch Telegraaf, the Spa organisation reports that the circuit is currently not accessible. "The road to Blanchimont, which gives access to the paddocks, has partially collapsed and the tunnels Ster and Blanchimont are inaccessible," the press release reads.
Although the track itself was unharmed, the essential infrastructure around the circuit is no longer passable. Trees threatening to fall also contribute to the unsafe situation around the track.

Tripleheader

The Belgian Grand Prix is on the Formula 1 calendar again this year and will take place between August 27 and 29. The race also means the kick-off of one of the three infamous triple headers this season, as it will be immediately followed by the Dutch Grand Prix and the Italian Grand Prix.
