McLaren sets clear goal internally: 'Want to become the best team'

McLaren had a good first week of testing in Barcelona. With the new MCL36, the team looked strong and behind the scenes Unboxed allows you to take a look at how the team itself viewed the car.

McLaren is making its way back to the top. The team fell into a deep valley after switching to engines from Honda, but has embarked on a new path under the leadership of Zak Brown, Andreas Seidl and James Key. One with a clear goal, however, which is also expressed early in the episode by Seidl: 'We want to become the best team in this paddock'.

With 367 laps, McLaren's week of testing was particularly valuable. Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris collectively only came to fewer laps than Ferrari (439) and Mercedes (393). In 2022, the team hopes to take the next step compared to 2021, although the team indicated that a title fight in 2022 is probably too early.
