Mercedes left São Paulo in P2 in the Constructors' Standings ahead of Red Bull Racing and Ferrari, but CEO and team principal Toto Wolff isn’t letting anyone inside the team drift into celebration mode just yet. “You can see that you can have a wipe-out weekend like the Ferraris had, and from one moment to the other, you lose 30 points."

The team boss made it clear that, despite the huge gain in Brazil, the fight for second in the constructors’ championship remains wide open.
Mercedes arrived at Interlagos one point behind Ferrari, with Red Bull a further ten back. By Sunday night, the picture had changed completely. Ferrari’s weekend collapsed, having scored six points from the sprint.
Both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton failed to finish the Grand Prix, turning the full-distance race into a double-DNF for the Scuderia.
With full 43 points scored at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, Mercedes leave Brazil holding a 32-point advantage over Red Bull, with the Italian team down in fourth.
Wolff: Mercedes needs to keep both feet on the ground
When asked about Ferrari’s setback, Wolff used the moment to underline how quickly the championship picture can flip. “For the Ferraris, we need to keep both feet on the ground,” he said on Sky Sports F1.
“You can see that you can have a wipe-out weekend like the Ferraris had, and from one moment to the other, you lose 30 points. So, continue to work, score the points in the next coming races, and then that’s the end.”
Wolff also singled out both Mercedes drivers for their work under pressure. Kimi Antonelli held off Verstappen in the closing stages to secure second place, with Wolff calling the young Italian “fantastic” for the defence.
On the other side of the garage, George Russell finished fourth after resisting Oscar Piastri’s faster McLaren, an effort Wolff described as essential to rounding out the team’s weekend.
"Both of them fighting a faster car from behind and holding on to it. That kind of rounded it up for us to see that, how they were able to fight," Wolff concluded.
New Mercedes shareholder revealed
Wolff is in advanced talks to sell 5% of his Mercedes F1 stake. However, the team were quick to clarify that the team's leadership structure will remain unchanged, with Mercedes-Benz, Wolff, and Ineos all committed to see the team succeed once again.
