In recent decades there have been a few sponsors who, thanks to special liveries in combination with special performances, stood out to such an extent that their logos are now iconic. The American oil company Gulf is one of them and it now seems to return to a Formula 1 car.

Gulf and McLaren don't work together for the first time

The Gulf logo was spotted on a McLaren F1 car at one of Gulf's petrol pumps. McLaren hasn't officially confirmed a cooperation yet, but that's probably the reason the team was there.
That we also see McLaren in the iconic light blue livery with orange stripe at the start of a Grand Prix is unlikely. However, the sports car that was also present at the presentation could play that role. The McLaren Senna can participate in the WEC under the new regulations.
McLaren has also competed in the world championship for sports cars with Gulf Colours in the 1990s and even won the Le Mans 24 Hours with the McLaren F1 in 1996.
