A mandatory two-stop strategy will be implemented for the Monaco Grand Prix for the first time in 2025. Charles Leclerc, the 2024 winner, is relieved that it will be in place this year.
"I'm very glad that it only happened this year because last year it would have complicated things a little bit, so at least I've ticked that one off the box."

He agrees with the decision to add the stops in. Leclerc said, "Even if it's a little bit, it will add a little bit of spice to the race, which is needed."
"I was very happy for it not to be too crazy last year, being in the lead."

The Ferrari driver was able to start in first place and retain his lead throughout the entire race.
"You always want to try and have as exciting races as possible, and adding pit stops is the way to go."
The FIA has decided to make the race more interesting to add a mandatory two-stop strategy to the race. Last year, most of the leaders pitted during the red flag. With overtaking being very hard on the street track, this made for a boring race for some fans.
Leclerc continued, "I don't think it will change significantly because it will still remain very, very difficult to overtake, but it will all be about strategy, and that will be interesting."
