George Russell was not present for the usual press conference after the conclusion of the Miami Grand Prix, where the Briton finished in third place. Mercedes provided an update on why that was the case.
Russell managed to secure his fourth podium of the 2025 season in the state of Florida. That was after he managed to jump Max Verstappen under the VSC and succeeded in keeping the defending world champion behind during the second stint.
However, after the podium celebrations, he wasn't there for the press conference the podium sitters regularly attend.

How is George Russell doing?

“He's absolutely fine, yes,” Mercedes' technical director James Allison shared in their debrief. “This generation of cars is not massively fun to drive in a hot physical circuit like Miami. All the time you're having to get the car near the ground.”
“That means putting stiff springs on. That tends to mean that they bucket around a bit. The combination of the heat, the G, the up and down bouncing that comes with that is no fun for anybody. But within a few hours, he was fine,” he continued.
While Russell therefore did not speak to the media, Allison explained the thoughts of the Briton briefly. "I think he knows he drove a fine race and was satisfied with that at least."
Earlier today, GPblog could also report that Toto Wolff will not be present at the upcoming weekend in Imola. It was already announced the Austrian will be absent from some Grands Prix in 2025, and after Suzuka, this is the second one he is set to miss.
