Ferrari had an interesting second stint at the Miami Grand Prix, with multiple team orders. Team principal Frederic Vasseur explained it is important the drivers trust the team.
The two Ferrari cars were chasing Kimi Antonelli, running in P7 and P8 at the Miami Grand Prix. With Lewis Hamilton being on medium tyres and Charles Leclerc being on hards, the Briton wanted free air on a quicker compound.
It took Ferrari multiple laps to make a decision, and later, Hamilton was asked to return the position to Leclerc.
After the race, Vasseur already talked to Hamilton before talking to GPblog among others in the paddock. "My concern is not that he (Hamilton) has to speak with TV, it's that we need to be clear between us," he began.
The Frenchman explained that they need to have trust in each other. "This situation, he has to understand what was my feeling on the pit wall. He can trust me, I can trust him, and the same with Charles. When I have to take a decision, I'm taking a decision for Ferrari. With the element that you have it live. It's not that you have 30 minutes to have a look at the data."

Vasseur understands his drivers' viewpoint

According to Vasseur, they had to evaluate the situation accordingly. "You have to decide who is the fastest on track, if it's coming from the DRS or not. Perhaps a bit slow, but it took me one lap or one lap and a half to make a decision."
He concluded: "You can always, when you are behind, decide perfectly. When you are behind, you have the feeling that you have to swap in the next corner. And when you are in front, you say, please have a ‘look if it's not the DRS effect’, but okay. I think it was the reverse situation 10 laps later."
