Jacques Villeneuve has said that Red Bull will have to choose whether to continue with either
Max Verstappen or
Daniel Ricciardo, as the two can't co-exist at the Bulls according to him.
The 1997 world champion was very critical of Verstappen.
"This was a bad weekend for him," Villeneuve told Motorsport-Magazin.com.
"He had to be punished too for cutting the chicane after overtaking Sainz.
"It's unbelievable, he drives in a Red Bull and only gets two points."
Verstappen only has less than half of the points that Ricciardo has accumulated, mainly because of his large amount of retirements from races.
"Ricciardo has always been the leader of the team, only the team and the media don't treat him that way.
"Red Bull really will have to choose soon."
Verstappen admitted that he made a mistake in Monaco and in China, he saw the rest as unlucky. Villeneuve, not so much.
"He makes a mistake every race, always.
"That's not a good sign for the team.
"In Baku, it was zero percent the fault of Ricciardo, he didn't do anything wrong.
"Verstappen takes too many risks to get close of his teammate, that clearly means that isn't as good as Ricciardo."
