Vettel was happy with his pole position in Canada, but the German was a little surprised at the tyre selection of Red Bull, who have opted to start on the hyper softs rather than on the ultra softs like Ferrari and Mercedes.
Maybe it's because Vettel and Max Verstappen have a bit of a history, particularly at race starts, but Vettel couldn't help but being a little critical of Red Bulls tyre selection.
"We looked at it but it didn't make sense for us," Vettel told Sky Sports F1 when asked about whether Ferrari had thought about starting on hyper softs too.
"Obviously they looked at it and it did make sense - we will find out tomorrow if it was the right choice."
"I don't think that the hypersoft is a good race tyre, so I'm a bit surprised that both of the Red Bulls chose that.
Verstappen, who was sat next to Vettel as he said this, was quick to fire back at the former Red Bull driver.
"We think it's a good tyre for us and on the long runs I felt good on it.
"It's no big surprise - We thought Ferrari and Mercedes were going to qualify on the ultras."
One way to find out who was right - on the track tomorrow.
