Sebastian Vettel is one of the most successful F1 drivers of all time. Since retiring, the German has been frequently mentioned as a possible replacement for Helmut Marko at the Austrian team. He himself sees it as a definite possibility to take on an advisory role at his former team. "For me, he is irreplaceable," Vettel began in the
Sport am Sonntag podcast when asked if he could replace the Austrian advisor.
"Let me put it this way, no one can take his place. What a great man he is! Since 2005, he has been making a huge contribution to the team," continued the German. Although Marko himself thought that the
former Red Bull driver could be a good successor for him, Vettel is not ready to think about that yet.
Marko is now 82 years old,
but he is still not thinking about stopping. For Vettel, this could be an excellent opportunity to master the finer points of the trade.
The world champion said: "He is still here, and I hope he can continue his work for a long time. He is a total realist and knows exactly what he is doing, I can learn a lot from him. Maybe his place can also be filled differently."
Vettel retired from Formula 1 in 2022, at that time he was racing for Aston Martin
Vettel Still in Touch with Red Bull
There has been a lot of talk recently about
Christian Horner's position at Red Bull. Vettel commented on this as well. Regarding the rumours that the British team boss's position is hanging by a thread, he said:
"I don't know, I've been away from the team for too long." "There are still some engineers from my time, and I'm still in contact with Christian. A lot has changed since I was there. The team has grown significantly."
