Although the seven-time world champion is still adapting to life on track with Ferrari, it’s away from the circuit where Hamilton seems to be thriving. Since making the switch from Mercedes at the start of 2025, Hamilton admits he’s fallen in love with more than just the red suit. Lewis Hamilton has described life as a Ferrari driver as
“pretty amazing” in a heartfelt reflection on his first few months immersed in the culture and lifestyle of Italy.
“The more I see of Italy, the more I fall in love with the place – with the culture, with the buildings, the architecture,” Hamilton said to the media. “There’s a real romantic feeling when you’re in Italy.”
While the British star hasn’t yet settled on a home base in the country, he’s embracing his regular visits to Maranello and enjoying the challenge of adjusting to a new way of life, even if learning Italian remains on his to-do list.
"I haven’t yet found a spot there [in Italy] – I haven’t made a decision exactly what I’m going to do – but I am lacking in the lingo area. So that’s still something I’m thinking about. But I love going to Maranello."
Off-track, Hamilton says 2025 has been a "whirlwind of a year", with business ventures and personal projects thriving. “I’ve just released my collection with Dior, which I’m really proud of. Everything generally outside of the racetrack is going amazing and I’m working as hard as I can to make sure that’s reflected also in my results.”

On the racing front,
Hamilton is still getting to grips with a car he didn’t help design, unlike his teammate Leclerc, but says he’s motivated by the challenge.
“I want to be at the front... Hopefully soon we’ll have another upgrade." Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton driving at the 2025 Canadian F1 Grand Prix
"We’re also in that period where we have to start working on next year’s car. The car I’m racing right now is not a car that I’ve had input in developing and evolving over the past four years. So I’m driving a car that Charles has obviously been a part of developing, knows very, very well, and has its challenges. But I’m enjoying that challenge."
For Hamilton, the Ferrari chapter may only just be starting, but it’s already proving to be one of the most emotionally fulfilling experiences of his legendary career.
