Max Verstappen was very happy with his first pole position of the season and his Red Bull Racing mechanics also went crazy in the garage after the Dutchman secured pole for the first time since Brazil 2019.
Verstappen finally managed to beat the Mercedes duo on Saturday. Until now it hadn't been possible in this season. The fact that he managed it in the last race makes it even better, according to Verstappen. The team in the garage were also very happy with the young Dutchman. "That's great to see, of course. Everyone is tired and a little finished at the end of the season," he said to Ziggo Sport.

Super motivation

"If you can get a pole in that last race, that is also a great motivation for them, also for tomorrow. So I hope we can set a world record with the pit stops tomorrow. That would be great."
Despite his starting position, Verstappen is cautious in his prediction for the race. "Mercedes will of course be super fast in the race tomorrow. Just because we will be in pole position tomorrow doesn't mean we will win easily tomorrow. I'm going to give it all and then we'll see. Of course I have two Mercedes cars behind me who can both do a different strategy. And behind them is a McLaren, so I don't really have that backup. So I'll just have to gas myself," Verstappen realizes. Alexander Albon starts from fifth position.
