Verstappen has little hope: 'Difference with McLaren was actually much bigger'

Max Verstappen was anything but pleased with his RB20 after qualifying. According to Verstappen, he still has to ask too much of his car and this obviously cannot continue to go well in the long run.
Verstappen fell a fraction short of pole position in Hungary on Saturday. Verstappen's frustration was high after the session, as Max in particular sees the team falling further and further behind the competition. Verstappen previously stated he felt he had to drive on the limit too much, and at the Hungaroring it was no different.

What Verstappen said after qualifying

''Somehow I think I am more on the limit this year than last year. I think the lap was also just good. It (difference) is five hundredths, but I also had two sets of tyres left and they (McLaren) only one. So I also think the gap is a bias as well. I think it's more than five hundredths and I have the same feeling for tomorrow (Sunday), that that's going to be the problem,'' Verstappen told GPblog and others after qualifying.
By being on the limit, Verstappen is still close to the McLarens and a good result on Sunday is also still possible. Yet, not for the first time, the Dutchman is sounding the alarm: ''If you want to become world champion, then of course you have to do better than this.''
