Whilst Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris could count themselves lucky to have not been targeted by the sheer power of the Max Verstappen fans present at the grandstands in Austria, George Russell was not as fortunate.
In the hours before the Austrian Grand Prix got underway, the drivers were being paraded around the track to greet the fans in stands.
As George Russell was making his way around the Red Bull Ring, Russell found himself on the receiving end of some very loud booing.

Russell fiercely booed in Austria

As the Mercedes driver lifted up his arm to wave at the crowd, they fired back a thunderous boo that made him put his arm down and rest his hand on his leg.
However, the Briton got the last laugh. Whereas he was to finish the race in P5, Verstappen got tagged from behind by Russell's teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli at Turn 3 on the first tour of the race, resulting in a DNF for the pair. Verstappen's championship hopes have been seemingly foregone by Red Bull's team boss Christian Horner, with the gap to Oscar Piastri in the standings ascending to 61 points.
