Lando Norris did not mince his words after the chaotic Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia. The defending world champion said the strange software issue shows it should have no place in the sport.
After the Bahrain Grand Prix was originally delayed due to poor weather conditions, multiple cars suddenly slowed down or stopped during the formation lap because of a software issue. The start procedure was then stopped, and the race could only begin after another lengthy delay.
Norris, who has already been critical of the 2026 Formula 1 cars and regulations throughout the season, once again shared his clear verdict on the matter.
Speaking to GPblog, among others, he said at the Sepang International Circuit: "[It was] horrible. I don't know, it just proves that we shouldn't have any of that stuff, the electronic side."

Norris was then asked whether what happened today could help the drivers' push for change. The Briton added: "No. You can't say any more than what you already said."

Verstappen hopes F1 learns from Bahrain Grand Prix chaos

Max Verstappen, who won today's Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, had a clear conclusion about what happened in Sepang. The Dutchman commented: "Yeah, what can you say? I mean, that’s not what you want, right, for the sport. Yeah, I hope there is a lesson learned."
George Russell was also disappointed with what happened today. The Mercedes driver told GPblog, among others: "The whole day felt like a bit of a faff with, you know, the delay and then the red flag and then, you know, endless laps behind the safety car and then suddenly do an extra laps to allow 'Checo' to overtake. It didn't feel very F1 today.

"And I'd have been a bit disappointed if I was in the stands watching. So, you know, that wasn't good. But, yeah, from my side, just a bit frustrating," the Briton concluded.
