Oscar Piastri remains ready to fight to the necessary lengths to win the World Championship, a stance he will change only if his lead grows dramatically, or when the list of races left to go in the season grow ever-thinner.

I’ve had a much bigger gap than this, and had it pretty much erased before the final round.- Oscar Piastri
“I’ve had a much bigger gap than this, and had it pretty much erased before the final round,” Piastri told GPblog.
“So I’ve got personal experience of this not being a comfortable gap.

“But, it’s still far too early to be calculating and settling for positions that aren’t first," the Australian driver said.
The gap after Monza, where Norris was able to cut Piastri's lead by 3 points, now stands at 31. One DNF can make everything more complicated for Piastri, hence his perspective remains unchanged.
“For me, the approach is still exactly the same. That won’t change until the gap is pretty significantly bigger, or the amount of races is significantly smaller.”
Piastri, going on his third year in F1, is within reach of his first World Championship, a chance he will not squander by adopting a more risky on track attitude.
“The risk attitude five races ago, you didn’t know the championship picture was going to look like this, and if you took a different amount of risk either way, then the gap is going to be potentially smaller than what it is.

“[It] could potentially be bigger, but I’d like to think that my approach to risk is pretty measured, so for me, that doesn’t really change regardless of the championship situation.”

The drivers will not be the sole deciders of the F1 2025 title race, McLaren, via team orders and strategic decisions, have already tipped the scales several times over this season, with the latest mediation occurring at the Italian Grand Prix.
Piastri, however, has revealed that internal discussions have been held to further clarify and improve the team's operative functioning should a similar situation arise again.
