Yuki Tsunoda left the 2025 Imola Grand Prix weekend with mixed emotions after salvaging a single point in 10th place. While scoring in back-to-back races shows progress for the Red Bull driver, the frustration from Saturday’s heavy crash in qualifying still lingered.
Speaking after the race, Tsunoda was candid about how the incident affected him both mentally and in terms of confidence with the car.
“Very frustrated that I made a massive mistake yesterday,” Tsunoda admitted. “At least I gave something to the team, which is good—especially considering the amount of work the mechanics put in overnight. It’s better than nothing, for sure.”
Changes to the car forced him to start from the pit lane. Despite this setback, he mounted a composed recovery, battling his way into the points just about.

Still adapting to the car

When asked how far along he is in terms of adapting to the car, Tsunoda pointed out that it remains a difficult machine to master, especially compared to others on the grid.
“I don’t know about the other cars—Ferrari, Williams—but at least my car is not an easy beast to understand,” he explained. “I realise how much I still have to build confidence and learning through the race weekends. Even if we change a lot of setups, I don’t know exactly what’s going to happen or how to react to it.”
