Tost contradicts Wolff: 'That problem has always existed in Formula 1'

In an attempt to get more cars on the grid and offer more young drivers the chance to get a Formula 1 seat, people are brainstorming about the possibilities. Toto Wolff suggested to have a third car for each team, but Franz Tost doesn't see the point.
The AlphaTauri team boss sees the lack of seats differently. "There has always been too little space in Formula 1, " he said in an interview with Sport1. "At the moment there are twenty cars, and the best drivers are in them."

Alternatives for young drivers

"At Red Bull we let young talents test in older cars; another alternative would be to let them drive another season in Formula 2, DTM or IndyCar," the Austrian continued. "You can also create a path from those racing classes. If you have enough talent, you will end up in Formula 1."
He is therefore not keen on Wolff's idea. "I don't see it happening. It starts with the financial aspect: Who is going to pay for it? Besides, the space in the paddock and the pits is limited, I wouldn't know where we could put a third car," Tost said.
