It has been suggested, denied and suggested again by Mercedes: Lewis Hamilton might get a new engine after all. Team boss Toto Wolff says he is seriously considering the possibility because he doesn't want to risk a retirement.
"Most important is that we don't DNF because of a reliability issue," Wolff explains at Sky Sports. " You can cope with swings, finishing second or third I think that's okay. The Championship will go long, but a DNF..."

Mercedes considering engine change Hamilton

According to the 49-year-old Austrian, the team is busy investigating whether Hamilton can finish the rest of the season with his current engine pool. "We are looking at the parameters of the engines to make sure we don't suffer from any reliability problems," explained the Mercedes team boss.
So, should there be any doubt about that, Mercedes will have to consider an engine change anyway. In that case, it could come as early as Turkey. "It is a possibility. When and how is not yet decided," Wolff concludes.
