Tost believes Toro Rosso are in the best place ever

Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost believes the team are in the best place that they have ever been in.

Toro Rosso finished fourth in Bahrain, but despite not backing up this result in China, Tost insists the team are flying with Honda.

“Toro Rosso is in the best situation we have ever been,” suggested Tost.

“We are now much more involved in the complete design process.

“How to fit in the power unit, how to design the cooling system, the exhaust system, where to put the electrical boxes,” he added.

Some expect the senior team, Red Bull, are looking at making a deal with Honda for next season.

Christian Horner and co will have been impressed with the performance in Bahrain. However, Toro Rosso has travelled home pointless from Australia and China.

The team will have to show more consistency before Red Bull takes the plunge, but it’ll be interesting to see if they can wait one more year.

Tost went on to say the car design will benefit from the development procedures even more next season.

“I think, especially for next year, this will be a big advantage from the complete car design point of view.”
