The very last race of the season is over and the protests of Mercedes have been rejected by the stewards, so it is official: Max Verstappen is the 2021 Formula 1 World Champion!
It was incredibly exciting, as Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton went into the all-deciding race in Abu Dhabi with the same number of points. In the end the Dutchman won the title with a difference of eight points. His total score comes to 395.5 points. Verstappen also picked up the fastest lap during the race.
Valtteri Bottas finished third in the championship, with Sergio Perez behind him in fourth place. Carlos Sainz won the battle between Ferrari and McLaren in the drivers' championship, completing the top five.
