"That gives Verstappen a big advantage over the other drivers"

During last week's Red Bull Show Run, former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard held a question-and-answer session. In it, he addressed Max Verstappen's status in Formula 1.

Coulthard, who drove for Red Bull Racing himself from 2005 to 2008, currently works as a consultant for Red Bull and as an analyst for various media outlets including Viaplay. He looks back at the fight between Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in 2021.

"Last year's duel between Max and Lewis will go down in history as one of the greatest battles in the history of the sport, in which both drivers deserved to win," Coulthard says. "Lewis was a great opponent, but in the end only one can win. Max is without doubt one of the best drivers in history of the sport. The maturity he shows in winning races is testament to his racing blood. That gives him a big advantage over the other drivers."

Coulthard has witnessed first-hand how Red Bull has changed the sport over the past decade. In his opinion, the success of Red Bull and Verstappen is due to the space the team has given to the talents in their garage. According to him, Red Bull has added a new kind of energy to the sport and created a new atmosphere which has ensured success.
