Max Verstappen enjoyed a near-perfect Saturday at the Singapore Grand Prix, taking victory in the Sprint before securing pole position for Sunday's race. Meanwhile, McLaren endured a dramatic afternoon as Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri collided, adding another twist to an already eventful weekend at Marina Bay. Here is a roundup of everything that happened in Formula 1 today.
Verstappen completes Singapore Saturday double with Sprint victory and pole position
The Dutchman emerged as the standout performer on Saturday in Singapore, claiming victory in the Sprint before securing pole position for Sunday's Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver later continued his impressive qualifying form, adding another pole to his recent successes in Malaysia and Friday's Sprint Qualifying session.
The Sprint itself produced plenty of drama, with George Russell crashing out while leading the race. The Mercedes driver's accident brought his afternoon to a disappointing end, with the team subsequently facing a race against time to repair his car ahead of qualifying.
Verstappen then carried his momentum into the afternoon session, producing the fastest lap when it mattered most to beat Charles Leclerc to pole position. Lewis Hamilton completed the top three, although the Ferrari driver looked capable of challenging for first place throughout Q1 and Q2 before struggling with the balance of his car in Q3.

Norris and Piastri's sprint race ends in distaser
McLaren's Singapore Grand Prix weekend took an unexpected turn on Saturday, as Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri collided during the Sprint, adding another chapter to the history of on-track incidents between the two teammates.
The pair had already come to blows at last year's Canadian Grand Prix, when Norris misjudged an attempted overtake on Piastri and made contact with the Australian, damaging his own car and bringing his race to a premature end. The incident came during a season in which both drivers were fighting for the world championship, making every lost point particularly costly. Their latest clash in Singapore, by contrast, occurred during a Sprint in which neither driver was challenging for a podium position.
With Sunday's Grand Prix still to come, both drivers will now be looking to put the collision behind them and focus on securing the strongest possible result. That task could prove particularly challenging around Marina Bay, where overtaking opportunities are limited and track position often plays a decisive role.
