Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz can look back on his qualifying in Spain with satisfaction. The Spaniard finished with the second fastest time. Sainz starts from first place behind Max Verstappen. Ferrari has come to the Spanish country with updates. The driver comments on whether he is happy with the changes to the car.
So while teammate Charles Leclerc has to start from P19, Sainz starts from a much better place. He can immediately challenge Verstappen at the first corner. Still, speeds on Sunday have always been a problem for the Italian team. To GPblog and others, Sainz explained what he expects from the updates to the car.

Sainz on updates

"The new package was meant to improve mainly the medium to low speed. In that area we have definitely felt a step in the right direction. As I said before the weekend, a step in a different direction. It's not so much a big upgrade or a big change in our performance, but opening a bit of a different window of working range for the car," Sainz said.
"We also want to make the car more predictable, more drivable, easier to put together a lap. Hopefully it will go in this direction, but unfortunately we've come to a track that doesn't suit our package. Our high speed performance really hasn't been good since the beginning of the season."
