Lewis Hamilton has revealed the gruelling battle his beloved pooch Roscoe underwent against the recent bout of pneumonia that ultimately claimed his dog's life.
After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe

Earlier in the year Roscoe had suffered from pneumonia, but with the propper care and treatment he managed to pull through, with Hamilton even taking the 12-year-old bulldog to the Silverstone Grand Prix some time later.
However, last week, on Thursday morning, the seven time world champion posted a worrying message on instagram asking his fans to keep the beloved dog in their thoughts following what had been a "scary few hours."
Despite all the attempts made by the veterinarian team in charge of Roscoe's care, his heart at one point stopped beating, with the medical staff managing to bring him back, albeit not in a conscious state.

Hamilton has now revealed the full extent of his beloved dog's hard-fought but ultimately lost battle against pneumonia.
"After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe," Hamilton wrote on Instagram suggesting he had made the decision to put his sick dog to sleep.
"He never stopped fighting, right until the very end," the seven-time world champion added.

"I feel so grateful and honoured to have shared my life with such a beautiful soul, an angel and true friend," Hamilton continued. "Bringing Roscoe into my life was the best decision I ever made, and I will forever cherish the memories we created together.
"It is one of the most painful experiences and I feel a deep connection to everyone who has gone through the loss of a beloved pet," Hamilton's message ended.

Hamilton's love for Roscoe measured in actions

The seven-time world champion was supposed to fly to Mugello to test the 2026 Pirelli compound tyres last Friday. However, with Roscoe's condition taking a turn for the worst, Hamilton chose to remain by his pooch's side.
On Saturday evening the Brit was scheduled to appear at the Milan Fashion Show to promote a Ferrari line, but with Roscoe's health still failing, Hamilton declined and chose to skip the event instead.
