Daniel Ricciardo was lapped by his young teammate
Lando Norris at the
Monaco Grand Prix. It is not yet going as Ricciardo had hoped, but he is not doubting himself.
Ricciardo was brought in by
McLaren as a replacement for
Carlos Sainz.
McLaren hoped to secure Ricciardo back in 2019, but then the Australian opted for Renault. Ricciardo has now completed five races for his new team, but after his dramatic performance in Monaco, his confidence will not have been boosted.
Any doubts for Ricciardo?
''The only person who can touch me is myself. I want to perform well. For myself, but also for the team and everyone who believes in me. I do not doubt my own ability. I know what I can do and what I am capable of,'' the multiple race winner said at the press conference ahead of the
Azerbaijan Grand Prix according to
Speedweek.com.
''It's now about me getting everything done. Of course I would have preferred to get that done a few races ago myself, but I'm sticking to my experience. It's a marathon and not a sprint. Of course you want to do well every race'', concludes the McLaren driver.
