Red Bull Racing promises to do everything it can to win a Grand Prix this season with Max Verstappen or Isack Hadjar. According to Pierre Waché, the team’s technical director, there is a development plan in place through the end of the year to improve the RB22.
It’s exactly a year ago that Verstappen in Hungary said he doubted whether Red Bull Racing would win another Grand Prix in 2025. After the summer break, the Austrian team then turned out to be able to win several races. Verstappen even came very close to a fifth world title, such was the turnaround after the August break.
During media day at the Hungaroring on Thursday, Verstappen was asked the same question, to which he initially responded with a quip: "Maybe I should repeat that and then it will be a good end. I'm just going to repeat it just for the fun of it.” the Dutchman laughed. He then added on a more serious note: “No, I don't know. I mean, it's very different scenarios where we come from back then of the regulations and what we're doing now."

Red Bull wants to win in 2026

After the first free practice, GPblog asked Pierre Waché about Verstappen’s earlier remarks. The technical director has not ruled out a Grand Prix victory, in any case. But will it happen? "It’s difficult to say. Going for wins this year is what we aim for."

Even after the summer break, Red Bull Racing won’t sit still in terms of development, the Frenchman promised: "We are trying to improve the car. Clearly, we have a development plan until the end of the year. Everything we can do to improve the car, learn how this regulation works and understand how development can affect the characteristics and pace of the car, we are trying to do."
Waché realizes that Red Bull will face limitations as the year progresses. That’s why he says about upcoming updates: "For sure, in terms of efficiency, we have some limitations in the regulations that could limit what we are doing. But everything we can do to make the car capable of winning, could be Max or Isack, we are doing."
