Red Bull has also followed Ferrari’s lead by introducing its own version of the “macarena” rear wing on the RB22 during a filming day at Silverstone, with it still to be seen whether it will be carried over to Miami next weekend.

Red Bull debuts own 'Macarena' wing concept

After a disappointing start to the season, the Milton Keynes-based outfit is aiming to bounce back in style from Miami, following a filming day held just a few days ago with Max Verstappen at the wheel, where several key upgrades were spotted on the RB22. What has caught the eye most in images circulating on social media, however, is that Red Bull also appears to have adopted its own initial version of the “macarena” rear wing, which on paper should deliver significant gains in top speed thanks to its configuration. In contrast to Ferrari’s SF-26 solution, Red Bull has opted for a different layout, with the mechanism housed in the central section of the rear wing rather than embedded within the endplates. The team has also introduced extra winglets on the endplates, aimed at improving airflow control and reducing turbulence.
Ferrari has already trialled several versions in recent weeks, including its initial debut in China, although it was later dropped during the weekend and not used in Japan. It remains unclear whether the “macarena” rear wing will feature on the RB22 in Miami, with the April break now drawing to a close.

Ferrari unveils major SF-26 revamp in key Monza filming day

Ferrari was the first team to get back on track, running an important filming day at Monza where it introduced a revised front wing alongside an updated floor compared to the specification seen in the opening rounds. Alongside those changes, the so-called “macarena” rear wing has also made a return, having initially appeared in China on track at a Grand Prix weekend before being dropped for both that weekend and the following round in Japan. In addition, new fin elements have been reintroduced at the base of the halo after an earlier trial in China. The concept is aimed at refining airflow around the cockpit, guiding it more efficiently towards the engine intake and rear bodywork, with a small aerodynamic gain expected, particularly at higher speeds.
