Audi confirms launching appeal after Tsunoda was not penalized in Monza

"Following the Italian Grand Prix, the team raised a concern regarding the application of Article B5.9.4, which requires a driver who causes an extra formation lap to enter the pit lane and resume the race from there. We can confirm that an appeal has been submitted within the 96-hour window mandated by the regulations. As the matter is now subject to the FIA appeal process, we will not comment further at this stage," Audi's statement reads.

Tsunoda finished 10th at Monza. If he were to receive a 10-second penalty, he would be relegated to P12, with Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg each gaining a position.

For the first standing start after the red flag, Tsunoda nearly lined up in the wrong grid box. He noticed it in time and moved over to the grid box where he was supposed to start. However, the race director decided to call for an additional formation lap.

The stewards' verdict wrote that they "consider that the extra formation lap resulted from the Race Director’s assessment of the situation, rather than being directly caused by the driver of Car 22.
