For many teams, the announcement that the FIA is going to ban the 'party mode' of the teams came as a surprise. Everyone expected that if there would be changes, they would come in 2021 or 2022. However, the FIA has decided that it will apply from the race in Belgium. It also came as a surprise for Pirelli.
"We didn't actually find out until the teams told us," explains Isola to Auto, Motor und Sport. Because of the upcoming changes, other measures do not have to be taken. Isola indicates that they had measures ready to counteract the high pressure on the tires.

Otherwise higher tyre pressure

"Otherwise we'd probably have to increase the tyre pressure even more." The higher tyre pressure should ensure that the tyres make less contact with the asphalt, so that there will be less pressure on the tyres. This high pressure is expected, because the cars will be a lot faster in 2021.
Isola is therefore also happy that the FIA will take these measures. "We have no problems with that measure". Whether Pirelli will still have to make changes to the tyre pressure is not yet clear. Pirelli does expect that this measure will not be necessary.
